Substance abuse is a very serious problem!

The U.S. Surgeon General’s Mental Health Report states, in part, that since the early 1990s there has been a “sharp resurgence” in the misuse of alcohol and other drugs by adolescents and young adults.

Substance abuse is broken down into three categories:

• Alcohol Abuse
• Alcoholism
• Drug Abuse

Definitions are based on the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Forth Edition.
